Being a kid can be tough, but being a parent, I'm sure you'd agree, although amazing and a blessing, can also be a tough gig at times and take a big toll on every aspect of your life.

It is no secret that many Mums (and an increasing number of Dads) carry an extra busy workload. As well as managing the home and the kids (with their increasing range of commitments and demands), many are also working outside the home full or part-time. Most parents I know prioritise everyone else's needs before their own. That's being a good parent, right?! Right!!?

But let me ask you this.  How can you pour from an empty cup?

In my personal and professional experience, mums are more often the pillar of the family; the ones who usually hold it all together. But what happens when we aren't coping or are super stressed and yelling all the time? Everything and everyone suffers too! Think for a moment, if you are anxious or feeling like you're not deserving or good enough in some way, is it really that surprising that your kids may start to show the same signs? 

Kids mirror ALL your communication; language, behaviour, beliefs and energy.

On the contrary, when you prioritise some time to invest in yourself and feel happier for it, it's a win-win! Your kids pick up on it and respond positively, your relationships improve, your kids learn that looking after themselves is important and your whole family benefits. The oxygen mask safety message on a plane is the perfect reminder. 

You can't help your kids if you don't help yourself FIRST!

Let's face it, most parents need more balance. You need to be emotionally and physically fit to keep up with your kids and the hectic pace of life to be good role-models for your kids, but most importantly to feel good about yourself!

Many parents suffer from stress and/or anxiety and carry around (or try to hide) other negative emotions like anger, frustration, guilt and limiting beliefs of not feeling 'good enough'. I know this to be true because the more I openly share my own story, the more parents share their story with me.

The sheer numbers of people struggling with various levels of stress, anxiety and/or depression today are staggering. The Mental Health System is in a state of crisis with statistics of anxiety, depression and suicide at alarming levels! According to Beyond Blue, in Australia alone, it's estimated that 45% of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime. It's a silent killer that affects so many people and so many families in so many ways.

The path into parenthood can be a total joy for some and feel like a complete shock or burden for others. For a long while, I thought this was something I just had to live with and manage, until I discovered the power of releasing negative emotions, past traumas and self-limiting beliefs at the subconscious level, through hypnosis.
